Stopped using clippers on the back of the neck, grabbed a straight razor instead
Had 3 guys in a row complain the taper looked patchy, so I switched to a straight razor for the neckline and got zero complaints in 2 weeks, anyone else ditch the clippers for that part?
The taper looked patchy because the clippers were dull or the guard was off, not because clippers are the wrong tool. A straight razor on the neck is a whole different skill set, and one wrong angle on a squirming client opens them up or leaves a harsh line that grows out ugly. Two weeks of no complaints proves nothing either, since most guys just do not say anything unless it is really bad. You probably just got sharper at the neckline once you slowed down and paid attention, which you could have done with the clippers too.
