Barbers who skip premium pricing are dragging the trade down
I used to charge the same for every haircut, even the tough ones. Now I add a fee for detailed work, and my bookings are better with clients who value quality. How do you set prices for your time and skill?

But you're missing how that pricing model turns off regular people. My shop thrives because everyone knows exactly what they're paying, no surprises. @emery_martinez15 talks about burning out on hard clients, but that's just part of the job if you call yourself a skilled barber. Adding extra fees for "detailed work" just makes clients feel nickel and dimed and starts awkward conversations. A good barber should be able to handle a simple cut and a hard one without making the client feel bad about it. Keeping it simple and fair builds way more loyalty in the long run.

Totally agree, it's about respecting the craft. I charged flat rates for years and just burned out on hard clients who didn't get the difference. Adding a tier for complex fades or corrections changed everything. My schedule filled with people who actually want the skill, not just the cheapest option. It made the work enjoyable again and honestly saved my business.
