Tried making croissants for the first time last weekend and ended up with butter puddles on my baking sheet
I spent like 5 hours doing all those folds and chilling the dough between each one. Got to the final bake and all the butter just leaked out everywhere. My kitchen smelled amazing but the croissants were these flat greasy hockey pucks. My roommate came in and asked if I was making butter crackers. Has anyone else had the butter just abandon ship like that?
Oh man, that's rough. Butter leaking out is like the most heartbreaking thing when you've put all that work in (and croissants are already a whole ordeal). Your roommate's "butter crackers" comment is brutal but honestly kind of funny, I've been there with baking fails that turn into something totally different.
