Shoutout to that Pillsbury crescent roll that exploded in my oven last Thanksgiving
Ever since my aunt's stuffing got blasted with molten butter at her house in Phoenix two years ago, I've always pre-poke holes in the seams before baking, has anyone else had a can pop off on them?

Is it really that big of a deal though? I mean, a little mess in the oven is just part of the deal when you're baking anything. Honestly, you probably saved yourself a minute of cleanup at most.

A little mess in the oven isn't going to hurt anybody. People act like a few crumbs or a bit of spillage is a fire hazard when it's really just baked on by the end anyway. You'd spend more time scraping burnt stuff off the bottom than you just saved by not using a tray. Unless you're baking a pie that's actively overflowing its pan it's not worth stressing over.
