My dog ate my sourdough starter.
Was trying to revive a starter from 2019 last Thursday, left the jar on the counter. Came back to find my labrador, Buddy, had licked it clean. Now I'm starting over from scratch. Anyone else have a pet ruin a baking project?

Buddy probably did you a favor. That starter was ancient anyway.

Yeah but @dylanf78 that's missing the real point here. Sometimes even if something is old and beat up its still yours and you know how it works. My neighbor threw away his old pickup that was rusted to hell because someone told him it was junk. New truck gave him nothing but problems for three years. That starter might have had another five years in it if the kid knew how to work on it. Not saying the friend was wrong but people jump to toss stuff way too fast these days.

Reminds me of my old lawnmower. Thing was held together with duct tape and hope before it finally quit.
