My chocolate chip cookies turned out great without weighing anything
Everyone says you need a kitchen scale for baking, but I think measuring cups work just fine. I baked a batch after getting home from work and used my regular cups for the flour and sugar. I didn't sift or pack anything, just dipped and leveled. The cookies spread nicely and had that soft center with a bit of crunch. It was a small win for me because I always hear how precise you have to be. This time, it proved that my lazy method can still give good results. I'm happy with how simple it was. Maybe not everything needs to be so technical in the kitchen.

But scales prevent failed batches, cups are too inconsistent.

Totally feel that, my last few loaves of banana bread were dense bricks until I switched to weighing the flour. Scooping with a cup packed it down way too much. A cheap digital scale changed everything for me. What kind of things do you bake?

Ever try sifting the flour first?
