Why does nobody talk about the live wire panel at the abandoned mini golf in Sandusky
I was killing time in Sandusky last month and walked past this old mini golf place that closed years ago, and the plywood board over the electrical panel had fallen off. Inside was a 40 amp breaker box that someone had clearly wired themselves, with three different colors of wire twisted together and wrapped in what looked like hockey tape. The scary thing was one breaker was labeled 'putt putt lights' and another said 'DO NOT FLIP' in sharpie, like that was a real warning. I took one photo and backed away because I could hear a faint buzzing from the meter, and a guy on the sidewalk said the place had caught fire twice in the 90s. I am not an electrician but I know enough to know that tape is not a wire nut, and aluminum touching copper is a bad time. If you ever poke around old fairgrounds or closed attractions, just assume every panel is live and walk away. Has anyone else seen a DIY panel where someone wrote a warning label on it like that actually helps?

That buzzing meter alone would've sent me speed walking in the other direction, so good call on the one photo and bail. Sharpie warnings on a homemade panel are basically the electrician's version of a "beware of dog" sign, they only tell you after it's already too late.
