Am I the only one who didn't know wire nuts can melt
I twisted two 14 gauge wires together for a shed light in my backyard last Saturday, capped them with a wire nut, and came back 20 minutes later to a gooey black mess because I'd used the wrong size nut on stranded wire, so what size do you all keep on hand for mixed solid and stranded splices?

Heard on a podcast that mixing solid and stranded under one nut is asking for trouble since they don't bite the same way. The guy said to grab the next size up from what the chart tells you when you've got both kinds in there. Yellow or red usually covers it for 14 gauge but check the label on the bag first.
