Shoutout to that 1999 article predicting we'd all have flying cars by now
I was cleaning out my garage last weekend and found a stack of old tech magazines from the late 90s. One had a bold prediction for 2025 - flying cars everywhere, traffic jams in the sky. Meanwhile I'm sitting in my driveway watching a neighbor try to parallel park a Honda Civic for 10 minutes. Not a single flying car in sight, but we do have smart fridges that tell us when we're out of milk. Anyone else find old predictions that make you laugh at how wrong they were?

Man it's wild how off they were. I think the bigger pattern is we just traded one set of problems for another. Like sure we don't have flying cars, but we've got cameras watching our every move and algorithms telling us what to buy. We got all this tech that makes life easier in small ways but didn't fix the big stuff we actually wanted fixed. Traffic still sucks, rent is insane, and now my phone screams at me if I don't stand up enough. Feels like we took the future and made it weird instead of awesome.

My smart watch yelled at me yesterday for not moving enough, so I angrily walked to the fridge and back. @wade_young86 you're totally right about the weird future thing, I just can't believe we have phones that can unlock with our face but still can't find a parking spot.
