I was dead set on a mirrorless camera until I tried a friend's DSLR from 2012

Spent months reading reviews that said mirrorless was the future and DSLRs were dead. Borrowed a buddy's Nikon D600 for a weekend shoot at the local park and got sharper shots than my phone could dream of. Anyone else stick with older gear after ignoring the hype?

Did you find the viewfinder made a big difference? I had the same thing happen, tried my uncle's old Canon 6D and was shocked how much more I liked the feel and the colors than any of the mirrorless cameras I'd been looking at.

Oh man, that D600 is a beast. I still shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II I got for cheap a few years back, and people act like I'm using a typewriter or something. Got some of the best portraits I've ever taken with that thing, even with its old autofocus that hunts in low light. Did you find yourself missing any specific mirrorless features when you tried the Nikon, or was it pretty much just better for what you shoot?
