A waitress changed my mind about road maps at Denny's

I always laughed at paper maps, figured GPS was king. Last Tuesday a Denny's waitress in Flagstaff saw me struggling with a dead phone. She pulled a folded Arizona map from her apron and traced a route to the Grand Canyon. It showed a scenic cutoff my GPS would never pick. Now I keep one in my glovebox, has anyone else converted back to paper?
