Appreciation post for the smudge tool on a 3am digital painting

I was trying to fix a horrible sunset background I drew at 2 in the morning and nothing was blending right. So I just started smudging the colors together randomly with my mouse and it actually looked like a cloudy sky. Has anyone else accidentally found a shortcut like that when you're half asleep?

Lmao the "horrible sunset background drawn at 2 in the morning" part hit way too close to home. I've got a whole folder of "nightmare sunsets" that look like a toddler tried painting a nuclear explosion. But yeah the smudge tool is literally my crutch when I'm running on zero sleep. One time I fell asleep on my keyboard and woke up to my tablet pen resting on the screen, and somehow the pressure smudge created this really faded mist effect that I've never been able to replicate while awake. Now I'm convinced my half-asleep hands have better artistic instincts than my fully conscious ones.
