Got tired of muddy boots ruining every trip, tried a simple tarp trick.

I was sick of stopping every hour to scrape mud off my boots on the Pacific Crest Trail last month. Finally tried folding a small tarp under my tent vestibule to create a dry staging area, and it kept my gear clean for 3 straight days. Has anyone else found a weird workaround like that?

That tarp idea works better if you lay it flat instead of folding it.

I laid one out once and it kept ballooning up like a parachute.
