Got chewed out by a Delta inspector over a wire bundle at Hartsfield
I was working a C-check on a 737 at the Delta hangar in Atlanta back in 2018. We had this bundle of wires running through the avionics bay that was just a little too tight against a bracket. I figured it was fine, nothing was chafing yet. The inspector came by, a real old-timer named Dave, and he made me pull the whole thing apart and reroute it. Took me an extra three hours. He told me he'd seen a similar setup cause a short on a -800 out of Miami that cost them a $200,000 repair. After that, I started measuring every bundle clearance with a gap tool instead of just eyeballing it. Has anyone else had a close call or a hard lesson from an inspector that changed how you run your wiring?

Smartest three hours you ever wasted.

I gotta push back on that a little. Three hours is a long time to sit through anything, and if it didn't give you something real to use or think about, that's still time you can't get back. I'd rather watch a solid 45 minute talk that gets to the point and leaves room to actually discuss it with people after.
