PSA: My 2004 Civic threw its serpentine belt on I-5 near Tacoma and I limped it home with a shoelace
Cruising at 60 mph on I-5 just south of Tacoma when the belt let go, power steering went stiff and the temp gauge started climbing faster than I could find an exit. I pulled over, dug a shoelace out of my trunk, wrapped it around the pulleys tight enough to run the water pump for the 4 miles to my driveway, and it somehow held. Is that shoelace trick something old timers actually used to carry, or did I just get stupid lucky?
