Everyone says replace the whole brake caliper, but a $6 kit fixed my stuck piston
My front caliper seized up on my 2011 Civic last month and three guys at the parts counter told me to just buy a reman unit for $95. I pulled the caliper apart, cleaned the bore with brake cleaner and a green Scotch-Brite pad, and dropped in a $6 rubber seal kit from RockAuto. Piston slides smooth now and the pedal feels better than it has in two years, so why does everyone treat calipers like they are disposable?
