I used to call 6 brokers before booking a haul, now I just check one DOT number
Back in 2016 when I moved my truck from Dallas to Denver I spent two whole evenings calling brokers one by one and still got a quote that jumped $150 at pickup. Now I just pull up the FMCSA site, punch in the MC number, and see who actually has authority and insurance before I even pick up the phone. Saves me a ton of time but I do miss actually talking to a dispatcher who knew the routes. Anyone else still call around just to hear the price straight from a person?

Ha, two whole evenings? That sounds like a pretty normal way to book a move, not some horror story. A $150 jump at pickup is annoying but it's not like they stranded your truck in a ditch.
