Everyone argues it's easy with online guides, but missing small details can cause big accidents. As a mechanic, I can't support this trend.

It's part of that wider DIY culture where people skip the basics. You see it with people trying to learn guitar in a week from a YouTube video, missing all the fundamentals. They get the big picture but none of the small, important skills that keep things from falling apart.
