That $40 'lifetime' O2 sensor socket was a total scam
Picked up one of those fancy O2 sensor sockets with the cutout from a local auto parts store for $40. Thought I was being smart getting a 'professional' tool instead of using my cheap adjustable wrench. First time I tried it on a rusty downstream sensor on a 2002 F-150, the damn thing twisted and rounded the socket edges. Ended up using a pipe wrench and PB Blaster anyway. Anyone else get burned by a tool that was supposed to make things easier?

That "half a dozen jobs" suggests you haven't hit the really rusty ones yet.

Gotta disagree with you there! I've had the exact opposite experience with my O2 sensor socket. That cutout design saved me on a 2005 Silverado where the sensor was practically welded in. I used a breaker bar and some heat from a propane torch, and the socket held up fine without any twisting. Sounds like maybe you got a cheap one or the rust was just too far gone, but mine's been a lifesaver on half a dozen jobs.
