Just dropped $400 on a fancy borescope and it already paid for itself

Was trying to figure out a weird misfire on a Ford Escape, and the customer didn't want to pay for a full tear-down on a hunch. Grabbed this new camera tool and snaked it into a cylinder through the spark plug hole. Found a tiny piece of a broken valve keeper just sitting there, clear as day. Showed the customer the video and they approved the head work right then. Anyone else have a tool purchase that felt like a gamble but turned out awesome?

Yeah, that's a solid win. I mean, @cameron770 is right that it's serious, but finding it that fast saved so much headache. Those little cameras feel like magic sometimes for avoiding a wild goose chase.

You know, "like magic" is exactly the right way to put it. I've been in that situation where you're staring at an engine bay wondering where on earth to start, and those little cameras just zero right in on the problem. A broken valve keeper is no joke, but catching it before it does more damage is a huge relief. I'm glad you got it sorted out without having to tear half the engine apart. Sounds like you really saved yourself a ton of frustration there.
