Switched from bondo to a premium glazing putty for final skim coats and it saves me an hour per panel

Used to go straight from 80 grit to filler primer and hope for the best. Then a guy I sub for in Phoenix showed me his process. He does a thin pass of Evercoat Metal Glaze over the 180 grit scratches. Takes maybe 5 minutes per panel but I barely touch a block after primer now. Has anyone else tried going back to a thin filler step before primer or am I just slow to catch on?

Stumbled onto this myself a few years back when I was fighting with orange peel on a metallic blue truck. Tried a thin coat of Rage Gold over my 220 grit work and it leveled out way better than I expected. Now I do it on every single panel that's getting a dark color... saves me an hour of block sanding easy. Just have to be careful not to lay it on too thick or you're just making more work for yourself.
