Serious question, did that $60 welding blanket from the swap meet in Tulsa save my quarter panels or am I fooling myself?
Picked up a used welding blanket at the Tulsa swap meet about 3 months ago for 60 bucks, mostly just to keep sparks off the shop floor. Then a guy named Duane who runs a restoration outfit out of a barn near Catoosa showed me how he drapes one over the fender before he tacks in a patch panel, keeps the heat from warping the paint on the back side. I tried it on a rust repair on my own truck bed and the paint on the outside didn't bubble at all, which it did the time before when I went bare. Now I keep two of them hanging by the lift. Has anyone else had luck blocking heat like this, or did I just get lucky on one panel and I'm about to warp the next one?
