Rebuilding a crushed door on a 2016 Civic took me 19 hours because of one hidden brace
I picked up a 2016 Civic last month with a caved-in passenger door from a lot in Modesto, figured it was a simple skin swap and a couple hours of work. Turns out there was a bent intrusion beam behind the outer panel that I didn't spot until I had already cut and tacked the new skin on twice, and lining that thing back up ate most of my weekend. Back when I started in this trade we would just pull it and beat it close, now with the door sensors and gap specs it has to be dead on or the latch fights you. Anyone got a trick for checking that beam before you commit to the skin, or do you just always pull the door card first and look?
