That $300 moon filter I bought was a total scam
Picked up a fancy 'high contrast' moon filter from an online store last month and it just made everything look blurry and blue. A piece of welding glass I had in my garage gave me a way clearer view of the craters. Anyone else get burned by expensive astro gear that didn't deliver?

Yeah the welding glass trick works way better for moon viewing honestly.

That 11 shade welding glass you mentioned @bencampbell, does it cut the glare enough to see the craters better?
