Had a chat with my neighbor about his telescope setup

My neighbor Bob showed me his 8 inch Dobsonian last night and I always thought bigger aperture was just for showing off, but he let me look at Saturn through it and I literally gasped. The rings were so sharp I could see the gap between them, totally different from my little 4 inch scope. Anyone else have a moment where someone's gear made you rethink your whole setup?

Buddy of mine had the same thing happen with a 12 inch Dob at a star party. He sold his refractor the next week.
