Counting breaths helped me chill out during a crazy work week
I was super stressed with deadlines piling up. A friend told me about counting breaths for a minute. I gave it a shot, and it felt silly at first. After a few times, I started feeling calmer. Now I do it when I'm overwhelmed, and it really helps.

Honestly, that breath counting trick can backfire if you're really wound up. Trying to focus on breaths might just highlight how stressed you are, making it harder to calm down. In my experience, some people end up overthinking it and feel more pressure. It's not a one-size-fits-all fix.

Totally get what @ivan392 is saying. I tried that counting thing during a bad traffic jam once and just started panicking about each breath. Felt like I was choking on my own air. Now I just turn up the radio and sing badly until the feeling passes.
