A guy at the concrete pour yesterday asked me how I got into this work, and his genuine interest made my whole week.
He was just a curious neighbor watching from his porch, but his simple 'so, how'd you start doing this?' felt better than any compliment on the finish, you know?

Reminds me of a friend who found a kid's detailed drawing of how clouds work tucked in a library book. Felt like finding a little piece of magic, @sandra_murphy.

Oh, I love that. I remember reading somewhere that kids naturally ask some of the most profound questions about the world before we teach them to stop doing it. That little drawing sounds like a real treasure.
