Hot take: the Clarendon farmers market is way better on Sunday than Saturday
I used to be a Saturday regular for like 2 years. Then last month I had to work Saturday and swung by Sunday morning instead. Way shorter lines at the produce stands, same vendors basically, and the guy at the bread table actually had time to talk to me about what was fresh. Saturday is a zoo by 9am with everyone and their stroller. Sunday you can actually walk around and not get bumped every 5 seconds. I get that Saturday is the tradition for a lot of folks but I'm not going back. Anyone else made the switch or am I the only one who thinks Saturday is overrated?
How early are you getting there on Sunday though? I tried it once around 8:30 and the parking lot off Clarendon Ave was still half full, plus two of the produce stands I like were straight up not there. The bread guy being chatty sounds nice and all, but if half the vendors sleep in on Sunday, what's the actual trade off? Curious if you're comparing 9am Saturday chaos to like 7:30am Sunday, because that's kind of apples to oranges.
Gotta love how @pat360 turned a farmers market post into a math problem about apples and oranges, but fair point about the time gap. My Sunday runs are usually around 10, and the lot is maybe a third full, so I'm not fighting anyone for a spot or a parking space. Losing a couple vendors does sting, no lie, but the ones who do show up seem way less stressed and actually hand you your change with a smile. Ten on Sunday beats nine on Saturday any day of the week, even if I'm down one kale guy.
