Bob's pipe wrench advice cost me $180 because I ignored it
My kitchen sink faucet kept dripping for like 3 weeks and I was sure it just needed a new washer. My neighbor Bob, who fixes everything, said stop messing with that and just rent a pipe wrench from the Ace on Columbia Pike. I thought I knew better and bought a cheap 12 dollar set of pliers instead, stripped the nut completely flat. After two days of cursing and a trip to Lowe's for a new faucet plus a plumber bill of $180, I finally asked Bob to show me. He had it off in like 4 minutes with the pipe wrench and it only cost me 9 bucks to rent for the hour. Has anyone else fought a simple fix and ended up paying way more than if they just trusted the person who knew what they were talking about?

Learned that lesson changing my own oil, stripped the drain plug and needed a whole new pan.

Bro seriously? Stripping a drain plug is annoying but that's like a $20 fix with a helicoil, not a whole new pan. @the_jesse you must've really torqued that thing into next week or got unlucky with the aluminum.
