I thought the 'lost city' stories from the Amazon were just tall tales

For years I rolled my eyes at those reports about ancient cities under the jungle canopy. Then last month I saw the lidar images from a site in Bolivia showing over 20 square miles of urban layout. The geometric patterns and raised platforms were too organized to be natural. It made me look up the actual paper in Nature from 2022, and the evidence is solid. Has anyone else gone from skeptic to believer on this one?

Yeah I was in the same boat. I owe a few people some very old apologies for calling them gullible.

But it's still just some old dirt mounds, right? Not exactly a city like we'd think of today.
