Switched from a basic multimeter to a clamp meter for motor amps
I was chasing a weird intermittent issue on a 3-year-old LG washer for a week. The basic meter showed voltage was fine, but the clamp meter caught the start winding pulling 22 amps for a split second before the overload tripped. Anyone else find a specific tool that solved a ghost problem for them?

My thermal camera found a bad compressor connection last month.

Honestly, a basic meter would have caught that too if you were checking inrush current properly. A clamp meter is just the easier way to do it. Sometimes the right technique matters more than the fancy tool. I mean, look at @davis.victor with the thermal camera. That's a cool find, but a visual inspection and a screwdriver could have found that hot connection first. People get too focused on gear when half the time it's about knowing what to look for.
