Hit 300 refrigerator compressor swaps in 2 years and realized I was rushing the drying process every time
Found out last week that my success rate jumped 15% once I started letting the vacuum pump run an extra 10 minutes, has anyone else noticed a big difference from a small timing change like that?

A lot of guys run that vacuum pump way longer than 10 extra minutes and still get moisture issues. I pulled 60 compressors last year and cutting the pump time back actually helped me avoid pulling oil out of the system too fast. Maybe your 15% jump is real but it could also be you just slowed down a bit overall.

Hear that about pulling oil out. Buddy of mine was convinced his vacuum pump was just toast after a few jobs, turns out he was basically dry-running it cause he'd sucked all the oil into the system. Took him three rebuilds on the same compressor before he figured it out.
