Why does nobody talk about the drop in spoiler tag use on anime forums?
I'm scared to open threads now without binging the whole series first!

Ugh it's so true and it's actually worse than just laziness. The whole culture of forums changed from "let's help each other enjoy things" to people just blasting their hot takes immediately. It feels like no one cares about the community experience anymore, they just want to be the first to post some crazy theory or reaction the second an episode airs. I've seen major character deaths just typed out right in thread titles with zero warning. It really does ruin the fun for everyone who can't watch things live.

Seriously, it's like people get points for posting spoilers fastest. I mean, the new rule seems to be if you didn't watch it the second it dropped, you lose the right to be surprised. I've started avoiding entire sections of the internet until I'm caught up, which is just sad. It takes half a second to throw on a spoiler tag, but I guess that's too much work now. Maybe it's just me, but that really kills the fun of talking about shows together.

Right? The "hot takes immediately" thing @dakotaellis mentioned is so real. I saw someone's post title yesterday that was basically just the entire plot twist of the new season finale spelled out. It's like a race to be the most obnoxious person online (and congrats to them, they're winning). I miss when forums felt like a group watch party, not a spoiler minefield you have to dodge.
