Spent $180 on a "premium" anime streaming subscription that only had 12 shows I actually wanted to watch

The other half of the library was all filler isekai with 4.2 ratings and I'm wondering if anyone else got burned by that Crunchyroll x Funimation merger promising the ultimate catalog but still missing half the classics.

Oh man, that's rough! I think people forget that those "premium" bundles are really about licensing deals, not actually giving you everything. The merger hype was just marketing noise, they still have to renegotiate contracts for old shows and some studios just won't play ball. For $180 you could have bought a few box sets of the actual classics you wanted and saved the rest for a month of a different service later. It's like they count on people not checking what's actually included before hitting subscribe.

You know what, I used to be the guy who defended those premium bundles. I figured more money meant more access, plain and simple. But seeing your post and hearing Taylor's point about the licensing deals really clicked for me. It's not about them holding back content, they just can't magically make every studio agree to a new contract. I guess we all learn the hard way that paying more doesn't always mean getting more.
