PSA: That $80 Anime Blu-Ray Box Set I Got Online Was Bootleg Garbage

I dropped 80 bucks on a complete series of Gunbuster from a sketchy site thinking it was a steal, but the video quality looked like someone recorded it off a tube TV. Has anyone else gotten burned by these cheap imports that claim to be official?

Man I got hit EXACTLY like this with a "complete" Evangelion box set. Paid 60 bucks for what I thought was a steal but the subtitles were full of typos like "Shinji get in the robot" spelled wrong and the menus looked like they were made in Windows Movie Maker. The discs were those cheap silver ones with no artwork and they started skipping halfway through the show. Feel your pain on the tube TV quality too, mine looked like someone recorded it with a camcorder pointed at a CRT monitor. These bootleg sites are getting smarter with their packaging but the video quality always gives them away.

$60 for a bootleg with menus made in Movie Maker? That's wild. Did they at least have the decency to include a free virus with that purchase?
