My buddy's roommate freshman year swore anime was just for kids with no lives

I was at a cookout last Saturday and this guy I've known for years said he still won't watch anything animated because it's 'immature' after I mentioned Vinland Saga. He got real quiet when I told him the show deals with trauma, revenge cycles, and finding purpose in your life. Has anyone else run into this wall where you have to defend the whole medium to people who've never given it a real shot?

Vinland Saga shuts that argument down fast. People who write off all animation don't realize they're missing things like Grave of the Fireflies or Perfect Blue. It's just a medium, not a genre.
