Crunchyroll's website is a mess compared to the old fansub forums

I was looking for an old discussion thread on Evangelion last week and ended up on a fansub forum from 2003. The layout was basic but every single post had actual thoughts, not just memes. Has anyone else found better conversations in those old dead forums than on modern streaming sites?

The old Gainax forums from back in 2004 had threads with 50+ replies all debating the psychology of the Eva pilots, none of that nonsense you see now. Makes me wonder why we traded actual discussion for a comment section full of one-liners.

I remember those threads, especially the one about Asuka's arc that ran for like 80 replies. People actually broke down why she acted out, how her mom's breakdown shaped her, all that stuff. It was messy but real, like we were all just trying to understand the show together. Now I scroll past comments that are just "lol Shinji sucks" or "Asuka annoying." It feels like everyone's too scared to write more than a sentence or two. You're right, it makes me wonder if we just got lazy or if the internet changed that much.
