My uncle's old CRT monitor made me rethink my whole setup
He told me he still uses a Sony Trinitron from 1998 for retro gaming because modern LCDs just can't handle the light gun games right. I never thought about how display lag messes with old hardware until he showed me his Duck Hunt scores on it. Anyone else keep an old CRT around for specific stuff?

Did you try plugging a VCR into it just for the tracking noise?

Ha, okay I gotta say that's not quite how VCR tracking works. The tracking noise was more about the head drum trying to lock onto the tape signal, not something you could just pipe out through an audio input. You'd be better off just recording the sound of a VCR rewinding or the mechanical whir of the tape loading-that's where the real nostalgic noise lives. But hey, if you manage to get that warbly audio through a port, you might be onto something weird and cool.
