Overheard a guy at the camera shop say film is just for 'the look'
He was buying a Leica and told the clerk he only shoots film to get that grainy texture for his Instagram. I was loading my Pentax K1000 with some cheap Kentmere 400 and just thought, man, that misses the whole POINT. The story IS the waiting and the surprise, not just a filter. Anyone else run into people who totally don't get why we do this?

Saw a dude at a coffee shop bragging about how he only uses a typewriter for the "aesthetic." He was taking pictures of it with his phone to post, hadn't even put paper in it. Kinda the same vibe, makes the tool into a prop.

Ever feel like you're just performing for an audience? I got a cheap notebook and forced myself to write one messy page a day, no photos allowed. The goal was to make it a real tool again, not a showpiece. It actually worked, and now I just write when I need to figure something out.
