Read a library book that said people used to mend socks with a wooden egg
It was in a book from 1975 about home skills. They called it a darning egg and it kept the fabric tight for neat stitches. Do you still fix small holes in clothes or just toss them?

Yeah, my grandma had one of those wooden eggs in her sewing kit. She'd mend everything, even tiny holes in my jeans. It feels weird to just throw something away over a small tear. I've got a favorite flannel shirt with a neat little patch on the elbow, gives it some character. Makes the clothes feel more like yours, you know?

Wait, your grandma actually used a wooden egg? @garcia.charles I thought those were just for show in old movies. My mom had a plastic one, but the real wood feels like some next level sewing wizardry. That flannel with the elbow patch sounds awesome, way better than anything new from a store.
