Finally got through a full day of drywall mudding without a single bubble
I've been working on my guest bedroom for two weeks now and every time I thought I had the mudding down, I'd come back the next morning to bubbles and pinholes everywhere. Yesterday I tried mixing the compound way slower and letting it sit for 10 minutes before using it, and not a single bubble showed up. Has anyone else found a weird trick that just works for getting smooth mud here in the dry heat?

Wait, have you actually tried the dish soap thing yourself? I've heard that from a few people too but my old man swore it just makes the mud get soft and crack later on, especially in dry heat like ours. Your mileage may vary for sure though.

finally got through a full day of drywall mudding without a single bubble" that's a win for sure lol. I read somewhere that letting the mud rest actually lets the air bubbles rise to the top and pop before you even mess with it. Heard a guy on a flooring forum say he adds a tiny splash of dish soap to his mix and it kills bubbles dead, no joke. Might be worth a try if the dry heat is making things tricky for you.
