Contractor walked off my job over a paint color, glad he did
Guy in Rio Rancho quoted me $9k for a kitchen reno, then threw a fit when I picked a beige he didn't like, said I was ruining his portfolio. He packed up his tools on day 2 and left. I found a local crew who finished in 3 weeks for $8.2k and the color looks great. Has anyone else had a contractor bail over a small choice like that?
I remember reading a thread on a woodworking forum where a guy said he turned down three jobs in a row because the homeowners wanted colors he thought were ugly. Everyone in the comments cheered him on like he was some kinda artist. But dude, you're getting paid to paint walls, not paint the Sistine Chapel. A beige kitchen is not gonna kill your rep, walking off a job and leaving someone hanging sure will. My cousin had a guy ghost her over tile choice and she had to live with a half torn up bathroom for two months. These guys forget who's actually paying the bill.
