Had a panel lock fail during a fire alarm test at a school gymnasium in Austin
The master key just snapped off in the lock and I had to drill it out with 200 kids standing in the parking lot, so now I always carry a backup lock pick set for those old Honeywell panels.

Did you end up replacing the panel lock with a better one after that?

Man, that sounds like a nightmare with all those kids watching. I'd say swap it for a standard Schlage or similar grade 2 lock cylinder, they hold up way better than those factory ones. Just make sure to test the new key a few times before you button it all back up, learned that one the hard way too.
