Picked a generic AI writing assistant over a specialized one for my reports
I went with a general purpose AI tool instead of one trained on accounting documents to help draft client summaries. Three months in and I'm retraining it on my own writing samples to stop it from using flowery language that sounds nothing like me.

Heard the exact same thing from my buddy Dave who writes property listings. He grabbed a cheap AI tool to save time on his rental descriptions and ended up spending more hours teaching it to stop saying "cozy sanctuary" and "vibrant neighborhood" in every single sentence. Said it was like trying to teach a parrot to stop swearing, just couldn't get the fancy junk out of its system. He finally just wrote a list of banned words and fed it 50 of his old listings just to get it sounding halfway normal. Took him like two weeks before it stopped calling a one bedroom apartment a "charming urban retreat".

oh man, that's rough. i totally feel you on this one, it's like you buy a tool thinking it'll save time and instead you're stuck teaching it how to talk like a normal person.
