My coffee looked like a Van Gogh painting this morning

I spilled a little milk in my coffee and it swirled into this crazy pattern with the dark roast. It took me 10 minutes just to stare at it before I finally snapped a picture. The way the cream spread looked exactly like 'Starry Night' but in my mug. Has anyone else found accidental art in their breakfast?

3 times now I've caught myself just watching coffee swirls instead of drinking it. Take the pic quick though cause that perfect swirl usually disappears in like 30 seconds. My trick is to pour the cream from really low down so it feathers out slower and you get more time to admire it.

Man I just read this thing somewhere that said the way cream swirls in coffee actually follows the same fluid dynamics as galaxies forming in space. Sounds crazy but I remember looking at my cup differently after that. The little eddies and whirlpools, the way the lighter color spreads into the dark, it really does look like those space telescope pictures. Your low pour trick makes sense too, you're basically giving the cream less momentum to work with so it takes its time. Might try that tomorrow morning actually, though knowing me I'll probably just end up staring at it until my coffee goes cold again.
