Vent: someone told me my old forum posts were unreadable and now I rewrite everything
A guy on a dead fansite from 2004 commented that my wall of text had no paragraphs and I never used punctuation, so now I go back and fix all my old posts before I share links to them, has anyone else gotten harsh but fair feedback from an abandoned site?

Notice how people fix their old typos before sharing links but won't go back and edit the actual bad ideas they posted... it's like we're all just slowly curating our own little museums of mistakes. I've seen this same weird pattern with folks scrubbing their Twitter history before job interviews or deleting old Facebook photos. We'd rather fix the formatting than admit we used to think that way in the first place.

Man, that's a good point @spencer_wood. But let me ask you this: at what point does fixing a typo become just part of the performance of looking polished, while leaving the bad ideas up is actually more honest? I feel like people scrub their history because they're afraid of being judged for who they used to be, not just what they wrote. It's like we all know the real stuff is the harder thing to own up to, but we still focus on the easy fixes first.
