Showerthought: I found a site from 1999 that still has a 'Y2K Bug' countdown clock.
It's a personal page for some guy named Dave in Akron, Ohio. The last update was January 3rd, 2000, with a single line saying 'Well, that was a let up.' The whole thing is frozen, complete with a broken guestbook and a page of links to sites like 'Webcrawler' and 'AltaVista'. It's a perfect little time capsule, and honestly, it's more interesting than most modern blogs. Makes you wonder how many of these are still out there, just waiting for a visitor. Anyone else stumble onto a site that got preserved at its exact moment of failure?

Oh man, that's such a cool find. Did you ever click on any of those old links to see if they still go anywhere? I found a GeoCities page once for a local punk band that just stopped updating after 2004. It had their show dates, some really bad photos, and a MIDI file of their music that actually played. It feels like finding a ghost town, but online.
