Rant: That old forum guy was wrong about rewilding my lawn

Some dude on a garden forum from 2008 swore if I just stopped mowing for a year, native wildflowers would take over. Three summers later, all I have is knee high crabgrass and a fine from my HOA in Tulsa. Anybody else get burned by old internet advice that sounded good but failed?

Did you try reseeding with actual native seeds yourself?
