Letting my son help with the build went against all the advice, but it was worth it
Most guides say to keep kids away from delicate parts, but working together taught him patience and care. Now he's excited about tech and we bonded over the project.

Local makerspace shows guided risk teaches more than any manual.

Most parenting guides focus on preventing mistakes but ignore how fixing a screw-up together builds real problem solving. My cousin's kid learned more from troubleshooting a bent pin than from the whole smooth part of the assembly. That shift from "don't touch" to "okay how do we fix this" changes how they approach any hard task later.

See how ray_perez92's makerspace teaches risk, but some parenting guides do cover fixing mistakes together.
