Warning: Boss added a key cut log that's slowing us down
Our shop now has to enter every single key cut into a computer system. It adds like five minutes per job, and regulars are starting to complain. I mentioned a quicker paper checklist, but management shut it down fast. Anyone found a way to make this stuff less of a hassle?

Try telling a regular that their quick key copy now needs a digital birth certificate. What used to take seconds now feels like filling out tax forms for a single key. Management probably thinks this log prevents key theft or something, but it's just creating a new job called data entry for keys. I bet the computer time costs more than the key itself. Soon they'll want a fingerprint and a blood sample just to duplicate a house key. This is how you train customers to go to the hardware store instead.

Look, reese586, I get why the key log seems over the top, but it does stop bad copies from being made. If someone steals a key, we can track who made the copy and when, which helps keep things safe. So even if it takes a few extra seconds, it's a small price for keeping things safe.
